A Legend of SriLankan Airlines A340 (1994-2016)




In 2015 SriLankan Airline was the First Asian Airline to operate the four engine Airbus 340 aircraft. It provided huge service to Srilankan Airlines with lot of pleasure. Over this 21-year period, a total of seven A340s have served the Airline

Begin of the Legend

SriLankan Airline introduced the A340  on First September in 1994. It was a most brand new aircraft manufactured by Airbus industrie. 

History

The A340 was a great part of SL aviation history. Because it was carrying numerous foreign dignitaries including Pope John Paul  and Pope Francis, to crises such as rushing in aid to the island following the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami.

A A340 had a range of over 13,000 Km and could carry nearly 300 passengers. Finally it touched  down at Colombo's BIA from Chennai 10.50 am. After it returned its aircraft lessor.
